Trial for Marion teacher charged with not reporting sex abuse begins Monday

MARION, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) — The trial for a Marion teacher accused of not reporting a teen who was sexually abusing kindergartners in her classroom gets under way Monday.

Diane Graham faces a misdemeanor charge of failure to report. The district placed her on paid leave when police arrested the teen.

This all happened in Graham’s classroom during nap time at Starry Elementary in Marion.

Court records say two students told Graham McMurrin was abusing them in August 2016. Authorities did not arrest McMurrin until November.

Graham’s trial will be at 9 a.m. in Tama County.
