Mark Klusman struck while volunteering with students

A teacher who has been at Elder High School for more than a half-century has died after being struck by an alleged hit-and-run driver, the Hamilton County Coroner reports.

Mark Klusman 74, was hit as he was doing volunteer work for the school earlier this month.

Klusman and other volunteers from Elder were cleaning up leaves and debris on the road along Warsaw Avenue.

Klusman had been a teacher at Elder for 51 years. He was a student before that, graduating in 1961.

Kayla Wilson, 23, was the driver, police said. She is charged with two counts of aggravated vehicular assault and leaving the scene of a crash. She is in the Hamilton County jail on $750,000 bail.
