A former special needs teacher has been busted for having sex with a 15-year-old student, according to reports.
The boy was a former student at School at Northeast in Schenectady, which is a school for children with special needs while Alexandra Culhane worked as a teacher’s aide.
Culhane, 24, is accused of having sex with the boy at Central Park in Schenectady in April 2016.
She was arrested Monday and soon charged with rape and criminal sex act following a months-long investigation into her misconduct by the Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs.
“The evidence would support and the people’s theory of the case would be that Culhane met the male victim in this matter during her employment while he was enrolled and attending classes at that particular school,” as reported by Schenectady County prosecutor John Carson.
School at Northeast first placed Culhane on administrative leave and then fired her when they learned about the allegations.
Culhane also worked as the JV field hockey coach in the Scotia-Glenville school district in 2015 and 2016.
